...it was a white christmas...

So Wollie and me decided to spend our first Christmas alone together somewhere totally new. So we booked this little hotel, Hotel Erlhof, in a place called Zell-am-See (Kaprun) in Austria for 3 nights and it was magnificent. We were in the mountains, snow all around us and Wollie's first white Christmas.
We left Munich on Friday after work and couldn't see anything cause it was dark and misty.

So when we woke up the 24th and saw this view for the first time, we were speechless....Just look at it... This is the Kitzsteinhorn mountain....

We spent the day walking around, buying stuff and eating our way through town. Then On Christmas eve, we watched the choir sing Christmas carols in the city center and Santa came on a carriage to hand out gifts to all the kids (will still upload these pics). Later we went back to the hotel, opened a bottle of wine and spend Xmas eve unpacking gifts in our hotel room...too much fun!

On Christmas day we decided to go up the mountain and spend our Christmas in -12 at 3029m. They have a cinema up there, an amazing restaurant and a 360m mine shaft that goes through the Kitzsteinhorn peak with a panorama platform of the Hohe Tauern National Park at the end.

This is our way there and up. First our car doors were frozen. We switched cable cars 3 times to eventually reach 3029m. And at the top it was -12 degrees. Note all the photos documenting all the stops and coldness.

And this is especially for Maryke...we thought of you...

We cannot wait for our ski course in January. We are definitely going back there and making use of all the ski lifts and night sledding!!!!!!

...and once again...snow...

On Sunday we went sledding. My oh my...I think I might get addicted to this sport. It is so much fun. We went to this place called Leutasch in Austria and it was beautiful, snow capped mountains all around and we had to drive up this little road covered in snow. It was just breathtakingly beautiful.

...snow snow and more snow...

Like I said...here are some action shots. Wollie managed to go down the hill twice with out landing face first in the snow and I was a little scared. Going on a skii course in Jan and then I will start on the 'idioten hügel' and join the other pros. I mean just look at our fabulous friends doing it in style. Thanks guys for an amazing day...cannot wait for the next one. :)

...we finally played in the snow...

Wollie's cousin and girlfriend are visiting at the moment and friends of Sven are here from Bonn. So we decided to get into our cars (or theirs rather) and make the most of the weekend. We had a plan to go sledding in the mountains...but  the plan didn't turn out like planned. We ended up at an awesome ski resort called 'der wilde kaiser' in Austria and the plan just went from good to amazing. The ski experts went skiing and the 4 of us went along for the joyride...man oh man did we have a lot of fun.

All of us getting ready for the adventure
The couples going up a ski lift for the first time
amazing view, snow and ski
There was a fog blanket over the town but when we finally got to the top we had the most amazing view ever.

the view from inside the cable car
view from the one side of the restaurant
view from the other side...the ski slope
More action pics to follow. it was too amazing to put it all into one post...so I have to do the action shots in the next pot. x

...finally some new shoes...

I haven't bought any new shoes in a while and have been looking for a plain pair of black boots for ages. I had almost given up cause I was getting gatvol of all the uglyness out there but then on Saturday I came across these beautiful boots and totally fell in love. The shopping gods were on my side cause not only did they have my size but the boot was on sale. So I tried them on, fell even more in love, smiled at Wollie and got a new pair of shoes to keep my feet nice and warm. Thanks Wollie!

Shu, another week has passed and I have only blogged once. Things are a bit hectic, doing freelance work and starting a new job leaves little time for fun and games... But today is Saturday and its sunny, crisp and beautiful....and this is my motto for the weekend. Have a lovely weekend peeps.

...autumn colours...

Wollie and me went on a city tour bus through Munich the other day. It was very informative and we got to see a lot of the city we haven't seen before, like the palace. We stopped at Nymphenburg Palace and went for a stroll in the gardens. Look how pretty the colours are.

...time to get the creative juices flowing...

We are back from holiday, back at work , back to reality and back to normal life...which means the creative juices have to start flowing double time now. Last weekend Peter came to visit and Svelleen, Peter, Wollie and myself went shopping in Ingolstadt. There is a little factory outlet village which is a little piece of heaven for Wollie the bargain hunter. Well, we left with a winter jacket for him, ski pants and a jacket for me and yummy food in our bellies. It was nice.

The boys then dropped me off at home cause I had to finish some work and they went to have some beers. When they got back home (2.15 in the morning and waaay too many beers) they got stuck in our lift. They phoned me and I had to open the bottom door for the lift repair man. They were stuck for 38min....and luckily didn't need to pee.

...and we are back...

...round 2...

Ok, so today is my first work function...we are going to the Oktoberfest and Avantgarde reserved a box at the Paulaner bierzelt, also knows as the Winzerer Fähndl. I am geared with wristbands, one for entrance into the tent and one for free booze and food...can I get a heehaa! I am scared and nervous, cannot loose my name under the tables in my second week of work. But here it goes, dirndl in bag and beerdrinking cap on.

...beer, beer and more beer...

On Sunday we forced our tired hungover bodies out of bed and carried on...as you do. It was the official Oktoberfest parade through the streets of Munich but it was miserable weather, rainy and cold, so we only watched a bit of the parade and then we met Heike and Michael and 2 of their friends at the Hofbrauhaus Munich...wow...and did we drink a lot of beer.. In our drunkenness we started doing the polonaise through the Festhalle and had a bunch of people joining us, but the unfriendly German bouncers asked us to please sit down and behave. Booooring guy...the lead oompa man actually came to us afterwards and apologised, he said they have to be boring and civilized, rules are rules. blah blah!
