...way too much schnapps...

Once a year the German School Pretoria hosts this crazy German Carnival thingamabob. Its usually a group of Namibians that organize all of it and it is one HUGE party. We used to go to the Kinder Carnival, also known as the KIKA, when we were younger and I haven't been since. So last year Wollie's cousin, who is a crazy beer drinking namibian german, asked us to help out and we did. We got all our English and German friends together and said they should join us and it was such a party. I do think they were a little scared of the German craziness and all the Schnapps that we consumed that night, but it was such a huge party that we just had to go again this year and everyone was keen (so it couldnt have been that scary). Here are some pics, it was a crazy night of which I cannot remember much. yikes!!!

The Performers and the decorated School Hall.
Chene, Colleen and Sven all dressed up and ready to party!
Firstly ... buy the Schnapps ...
Secondly ... Schnapps slaps...
will I ever learn...ouchy!

...handmade...

Guys...for Xmas my parents gave me a sewing machine. It is still in its box and I have never used it. As part of the deal I got free lessonsand still havnt been for them. I found this heart shaped zippered pouch on the purl bee that i want to make soon. They give you step by step instructions with measurements and everything. Think I might go and get some material tomorrow and see if I can make it. Would be the first time my pretty machine will be used...getting a little excited! Will keep you posted!

...scrapyard...

There is something just too beautiful about scrapyards, they have an eery feeling. The other day we had to do a shoot for work at a scrapyard. It was out in Benoni, at this random yard, where there are thousands of cars and parts of cars, some don't even look like cars anymore. I took some me time during the day and snapped away at the beauties...

this is my favourite one!

Then this guy, I think his name was Werner, takes these f&^%ed up cars and re-builds them into these beauties....he has all sorts...a yellow cab, a new york police car, a Chevy everything!

PS: The brother of Werner lives in a bus, actually 3 buses. The one is the lounge, the one his bedroom and the last one they are busy rebuilding into a kitchen...its a scary but entertaining place!

...jose cuervo...

At Oppikoppi we decided to join the Jose Cuervo revolution and drink some free tequila...so we went early Sunday morning, stood in a super long que to register and eventually we made it.
Free food, free tequila and free photobooth...can you say F.U.N!!!

In the first strip wollie and me had no idea what was going on...note the stupid expression on our faces in the first picture.
Then we finally got the hang of things and the fun started...

...Friday the 13th is our lucky day....

GREAT NEWS. Wollie and me bought a house in December 2009 and have been waiting for transfer since then. Its been a horrible time as we have had so many disasters and problems with the transfer...but today, 13 August 2010 at 11.33am we received a mail from our lawyers with confirmation that our transfer has gone through and we are now OFFICIALLY homeowners. Tonight we are gonna p.a.r.t.y!!!
Here are some pics we took on the day we put in the offer to purchase, which was the 16th November 2009!!!

Our entrance area, from garage to front door!
Front door, with green and blue lights and an ugly orange Nr 14!
Our outside area from the living room!

...grey photo wall...

After sharing my grey wall inspiration with you guys yesterday I went home and admired our wall and thought I should share. This is mine and Wollie's "travel wall". Its a nice shade of Dulux grey and the plan is to fill it up with all sorts of pics of places we have been. Its a work in progress and hopefully one day it will be covered and we will have to start a new one.

Currently we have 3 pics of St Paul's Cathedral, London as well as a little boxer dog that was sitting outside our flat in London when it was snowing. The Sacre Coeur, Paris, The Colosseum and the Ancient City in Rome, A little Village from the South of France, a guy with his camel in the Dubai desert, a very skew looking bus on our way to Tofu in Mozambique and lastly a picture of Wollie lying on a hammock in Zanzibar! I still have loads to put up so I will keep you guys updated on the photo wall. Watch this space...

...dirty weekend...

As always a bunch of us went to Oppikoppi this weekend. Every year I go, I say its gonna be the last one but when the koppi talk starts, early in the year, I can never say no. So, this year in true style we missioned to what we think was our 7th koppi experience. We spent 4 days in dust, filled with booze, sleeping in tents and peeing behind bushes...sounds digusting but its actually really really fun. Everyone should go at least once in their life. And just to give you a little taste here are some pics!

We had an awesome hammock that saved lives at times...

...played tequila slaps(thanks shannon), drank and watched some great bands...

...and then we messed around!

ok...so I know its the second post of shoes, but I couldnt resist. I mean...look at these beauties. We snuck out at work on Wednesday lunch time (which is unheard of on deadline days) to visit the Country Road sale in Hyde Park...what a bad idea. These boots have been calling my name since the beginning of winter so how can I not take them home with me. I did just that...they now belong to me!!!
