...mexico baby...

We went to Mexico for our honeymoon and it was amazing.
The first 4 nights Wollie spoiled us and we stayed at El Dorado Seaside Suites on the Riviera Maya, 25 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. Then we moved on the Tulum. There we stayed at a small little beach cabana place called Rosa del Viento. From there we did loads of day tours. We explored the Tulum Ruins, some great Cenotes, Chichen Itza and the a small tiny part of Sian Ka'an.

It was awesome and the pictures speak for themselves.
Here is a summary of the amazing time we had....

Cheesy but we just had to write our name in the sand...

Here are some pictures of El Dorado with amazing views, gardens, lounges and food...

Beach & Cocktail time...and the best cocktail was definitely a Bahama Mama

Our amazing view from our balcony...

Our amazing room at El Dorado

Breakfast in bed with fresh fruit, champagne, smoked salmon omelettes, assortment of pastries and freshly brewed coffee....yummy (excuse the messy hair and sleepy eyes)

4 course romantic dinner with Champagne, Lobster and our own private location on the beach....

The amazing Coco Bongo, what a great club...thanks Jess for the tip :)
And yes. we had that entire bottle of tequila between 4 people...

We then moved on to Tulum and here is a round up of the amazing beaches & cenotes in Tulum,

Our beach cabanas in Tulum...

Our trip to the Tulum ruins, right on the beach...

And then we did some snorkelling...

Apparently this ice cream man has been doing this for 25 years...

Chichen Itza - the famous Maya ruins

This pyramid is insane, when you stand in front of it and clap the sound sof a birds echoes back...

Skulls on the waal, where they apparently beheaded all the people...

1000 soldiers...

1000 soldiers close up...

The we also explored some cenotes - a deep natural pit or sinkhole resulting form the collapse of limestone. These were used by the ancient Mayans for sacrificial offerings. The cenotes can be underground holes, lagoons or even caves ...

This cave Cenote was incredible. Those are the roots of a tree where the sun shines in.

This is a lagoon cenote called Yal Ku in Akumal which connects the fresh water of the underground rivers to the Caribbean sea. and salt water mixes. The limestones creates caves and tunnels with beautiful fish of all shapes, colours and sizes.

Another lagoon cenote with only fresh water in the middle of the jungle where we did some snorkelling and kayaking...

And another cenote where we unfortunately could only take the one picture...this one was a underground cave cenote with one entry point, it took us 1 hour to explore the caves and we didn't even see half of it. Those black things are tiny little catfish that swim around and nibble your feet, eek.

The sinkhole cenote at Chichen Itza...

We also went to a small village called Valladolid which reminded me so much of the SA townships....

And then we rented some bikes and drove to Sian Ka'an and did some exploring...

The beaches of Sian Ka'an

A awesome design hotel with restaurant and live music right on the beach called Papaya Playa Project

Xmas eve, yummy 4 course dinner at Rosa del Viento...

And then just some random prettyness...

Wollie jsut had to capture the bums :)

And then we got stuck in Toronto, which was actually fun :)

The next post is gonna be about all the food we ate... food-coma of note :)
